The city of Gweru received funding to the tune of 23 million Zimbabwean currency, from the Ministry of Women affairs, community, small and medium enterprises development. The funding is for the construction of a Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMES) market.
The Ministry of Women affairs, community, small and medium enterprises development represented by its Acting Legal Advisor Fredrick Mandiziba said, “the package is meant to improve the informal traders business with the major focus on the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMES) sector”
This funding comes at a time when the city of Gweru had demolished vending marts to pave way for the construction and renovation of new vending marts. City of Gweru, Mayor Councillor Josiah Makombe said this funding comes at a time when the local authority wanted to improve vending marts as per cabinet directive.
“We really wanted to improve the vending marts but due to financial incapacitation we were struggling, we are very grateful because this fund has come at a time when we were in serious need to improve vending marts as per the nineth cabinet directive ”
