His Worship the Mayor Clr Josiah Makombe commissioned Ivene Clinic on the 4th of September 2020.

The clinic which was commissioned was rehabilitated from a bar to a clinic by the Gweru Urban Constituency Member of Parliament through the Constituency Development Fund. Honourable MP Brian Dube handed over the clinic to City of Gweru on behalf of Gweru Urban Constituency Development Committee.

In his speech the Mayor pointed out the services that are going to be offered by the clinic , which are out patients department  services  (OPD),family planning ,opportunistic infection (OI) ,prevention of mother to child transmission (PMTCT), TB management, expanded programme on immunisation(EPI) and domiciliary visits.

Councillor J. Makombe said that the new establishment will help improve service delivery because the old clinic which was a house could not cope with the services which were to be provided. Also the other challenge was that there was no space for managing Tuberculosis patients and offering opportunistic infection services which compromised confidentiality of clients.

Councillor J. Makombe added that the old clinic had insufficient rooms for use and this had resulted in the sister in charge’s office being used as an office and a consultation room for patients.
