City of Gweru has four Council Primary Schools namely Budiriro, Takwirira, Mpumelelo and Matongo. Community Service Officer Mr Jairos Ndlovu said City of Gweru is very happy because their name is also shining at national level. “All of our council schools managed to get above 90% of the pass rate at Grade 7 and Mpumelelo
Primary recorded the highest number of students who got 5 points,”said Ndlovu. Director of Housing and Community Services Mr Shingirai Tigere said, “Mpumulelo Primary School made the City of Gweru a shining star when it came first as the National winner in the Econet and EMA school projects competition for environmental management” Mr Tigere said “Keeping the environment clean is the motto of this year in all council schools”. Assistant Director of Community Services Mr Manford Gambiza said the City of Gweru is doing everything in their power to build more classrooms for the schools “Budiriro Primary School now has new blocks for grade 4 and 5 and we also managed to build new ECD blocks at Matongo Primary.
