The city of Gweru has signed a Joint venture, development of an airport with Ncube -Burrow consulting Engineers.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, City of Gweru Mayor Councillor Josiah Makombe said the city’s aerodrome had been lying idle for a very long time.
“The local authority has an aerodrome lying idle for a long time now we are happy that we have found an investor who is willing to improve it for the good of the city”.
“We are happy that we have entered into a joint venture with a reputable company that did work on the Victoria falls airport and now it is being engaged on the R.G Mugabe airport”, he said.
“The establishment of an airport in Gweru will assist us as a local authority to increase revenue which will surely improve council operations”, he added.
